Curriculum Beliefs

Upholding Yan Chai Hospital's philosophy of whole-person education and core value of child-centredness, our school adheres to the "Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide" (2017) and implements the objectives of education through an integrated curriculum model with diversified activities in response to children's age, needs and interests.

Curriculum Objectives

Our curriculum is designed for nurturing children’s all-round development in the domains of ethics, intellect, physique, social skills, and aesthetics; stimulating children's learning interest in learning; and fostering positive learning attitude in laying a firm foundation for the sustainable learning of children.

Curriculum Features

Our school places great emphasis on our school-based curriculum development. We strive to carry out children-centred exploratory activities from which children-centred learning activities are derived. Our curriculum provides children with opportunities to think, try and discuss among their peers, so that they will learn in a joyful and effective way. Our school also works with other community organisations to arrange off-campus visits and joint activities for children to learn in different real-life situations, thus broadening their horizons. We employ a Physical Fitness teacher to strengthen children's body movements and development. In order to arouse children's interest in biliterate and trilingual learning, our English and Putonghua teachers also carry out language games and activities.

Inclusive Culture

Our school values and is concerned about inclusive education. Hong Kong is a culturally diverse society with different races and beliefs. Children can learn and respect different cultures at school. Non-Chinese speaking children encounter difficulties while learning Chinese. Teachers adopt differentiated teaching strategies, tailor-designed teaching plans and games to respond to their learning needs.

We hold celebrations at many traditional Chinese festivals. The origin, customs and culture of each festival are explained to children through games, visual arts activities, dramas, etc. Therefore, children can learn about Chinese culture and enjoy the festive occasions at the same time. We also organise parent-child activities, where parents of different races are invited to share their national culture at school. It allows more of us to understand the cultural characteristics of different countries.

Moral Education

Our school promotes the spirit of volunteerism and care. We also cultivate the growth of children's personality of love, helping and sharing. Children become volunteers to serve the elderly and children, strengthening inter-generational harmony. Through different visits to nurseries, elderly homes, and special schools, we nurture an attitude of volunteering and caring in children. Moreover, parents and children have always actively participated in charitable events organised by Yan Chai Hospital, such as “Yan Chai Charity Walk”, flag day, etc., which put an emphasis on our principle of “Serving the Community in the Spirit of Benevolence”. Through these fundraising events, the services from our founding organisation can be sustained. Our spirits of caring for the society and serving the community can also be achieved.
